It was a great Sunday morning to take ZU-MAP out for Louw Joubert’s first Navigation Exercise toward his Private Pilot License at Stellenbosch Flying Club – The Most Beautiful Club In The World.
The route for the SFC Flight School’s Short Nav starts at FASH, takes you north to Saron and then West to the coastal town of Yzerfontein. We then head back South toward Atlantis. We enter the D200 from the North and go along the coast from Melkbos to Ysterplaat. It’s a stunning section of the route with great views of Robben Island and Table Mountain. We then hold overhead the Kenilworth race-course and enter the FACT Airspace for a touch-and-go to then head back to FASH.
Congrats to Louw for planning a perfect nav. The next step is do do the route solo in the opposite direction. Before you know it, it’s time to test for the PPL!
